Early Lead Enough for Gamecocks Win

The Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks took an early lead and held on for a 6-2 win over the Flandreau Cardinals at home on Tuesday, July 9th.

After a scoreless first inning, the Gamecocks scored two runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the third for an early 4-0 lead.  Both teams plated a run in the fourth inning making the score 5-1.  Humboldt/Hartford extended the lead to 6-1 with a run in the bottom of the seventh.  Flandreau added their second run in the top of the eighth.

Cam Quigley and Broc Haldeman both had two hits each.  Ryan Healy had a home run and two RBIs.  Joe Hanisch added a double and two RBIs.  Jonah Rechtenbaugh, Blake Svoboda, Loren Jacobson, Carter Halverson, Chad Morrison, and Briggs Havlik all had one hit each.  Svoboda pitched five innings and allowed an earned run on three hits and five walks with 11 strikeouts.  Rechtenbaugh pitched four innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and four walks and five strikeouts.
