Wood Ducks Lose to Colman, Looking for First Win

The Humboldt/Hartford Wood Ducks fell to Colman 11-1 on Thursday, Jun 13th and are also looking for their first win of the 2024 season.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third.  Colman scored three times for a 3-0 lead.  The score remained 3-0 until the bottom of the sixth.  Colman had a four-run inning to increase the lead to 7-0.  The Wood Ducks got their lone run in the top of the seventh.  Colman scored three more times in the bottom of the inning and then ended the game on the 10-run rule with a run in the eighth.

Jearl Jesson had two hits, including a solo home run in the seventh inning.  CJ DenBoer had a double, and Chase Vessells had a single.  Derek Renken pitched five innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Jesson pitched an inning and allowed four unearned runs on two hits with one strikeout.  Jacob Ellens pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed an unearned run on three hits.  Gage Nelson gave up three earned runs on three walks.
