Big Third Quarter Lifts Lennox to Win over Trojans

The West Central Trojans hosted their first home game of the season on Friday, September 20th.  The Trojans played the Lennox Orioles, but the Orioles spoiled the home opener with a 40-28 victory.

The Orioles scored first in the opening quarter for an early 6-0 lead.  The two teams battled back and forth the rest of the first half.  West Central took a 13-12 lead into halftime.  Lennox would grabbed the lead, 20-13, with the first score of the third quarter.  The Trojans responded with a score and two-point conversion of their own to regain the lead 21-20.  The Orioles, however, would get two more scores in the third quarter and took a 34-21 lead into the fourth quarter.

Keaton Vessells had a 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to pull the Trojans within a score, 34-28.  Lennox, however, would get a game-sealing touchdown later in the fourth quarter for the 40-28 victory.

The Trojans finished with 308 yards of offense, 267 rushing yards and 41 passing yards.  Lennox had a total of 422 yards, 271 passing yards and 151 rushing yards.
