The West Central Trojans hosted the Canton C-Hawks in football action on Friday, September 27th. After some back and forth in the first few scores, West Central pulled away for a 48-14 win.
Canton got the first score on a one-yard touchdown run with 6:03 remaining in the quarter. The extra point put the C-Hawks in front 7-0. The Trojans tied the game after a 21-yard touchdown run by Karsen Wilde and extra point by Lane Miller. Canton went back in front early in the second quarter on a 17-yard run. Another made extra point gave the C-Hawks a 14-7 lead with 11:21 to go in the half. This was the last score of the game for Canton.
The Trojans tied the game, 14-14, after a 33-yard run by Aiden Bartmann and extra point by Miller with 9:59 to go in the half. Less than two minutes later, Evan Jaton found the end zone on a 10-yard run to give West Central a 20-14 lead. Bartmann had his second rushing touchdown of the game on an 11-yard run with just :29 remaining. He also scored the two-point conversion to give West Central a 28-14 halftime lead.
The Trojans continued to play strongly in the second half. Bartmann had his third rushing touchdown with 10:46 to play in the third quarter. The score was on a 53-yard run. Miller made the extra point to push the lead to 35-14. Patrick Hammond had two rushing touchdowns in the second half. His first one was with :53 remaining in the third quarter on a five-yard run. Hammond got another rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
