Playing in their second straight road game to start the season, the West Central Trojans made a trip to the western side of the state and came home with a 56-15 win over the Belle Fourche Broncs on Friday, September 6th.
The Trojans scored three times in the opening quarter. Patrick Hammond had a three-yard run and a made two-point conversion gave West Central an early 8-0 lead. Caden Alfson had a two-yard touchdown run, and Bennett Ingalls had an interception return for a touchdown later in the quarter to make the score 22-0.
Belle Fourche scored a touchdown in the second quarter an 81-yard pass to cut the lead to 22-7, but that was as close as they would get. Aiden Bartmann had a 49-yard touchdown run and a four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Karsen Wilde had a one-yard touchdown run, and Alfson had a 30-yard touchdown run in the quarter. West Central led 50-7 at halftime.
Hayden Whiting found the endzone in the third quarter on a 62-yard touchdown run. The Broncs got one more score in the fourth quarter on a 30-yard touchdown pass.
West Central finished with 406 yards of total offense, 391 rushing yards and 15 passing yards. Belle Fourche had 211 yards of offense, 214 passing yards and -3 rushing yards. Bartmann led the rushing attack with 10 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Hammond had 11 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown. Alfson added six attempts for 51 yards and two touchdowns. Whiting had one carry for 62 yards and a touchdown. Alfson was also 1-3 passing for 15 yarsd. Ingalls had the catch.
