The West Central Trojan football team used a big second quarter on their way to a 41-7 win over the Vermillion Tanagers on Friday, September 15th.
Caden Alfson threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Crew Heier with 6:44 to play in the first quarter. Alfson connected with Layton Johnson for the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead. The score remained 8-0 after the first quarter.
Chet Carda had a two-yard touchdown run with 11:55 to go in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead. Jude Jarding had a four-yard touchdown run with 8:36 remaining in the half. Carda scored the two-point conversion for a 22-0 lead. Alfson had a 16-yard touchdown pass to Johnson with 6:15 to play in the half. The Trojans led 28-0 at halftime.
Alfson had his third touchdown pass of the game with 5:31 to go in the third. He threw a 20-yard pass to Benjamin Vuong to make the score 34-0. Jarding had a one-yard touchdown run with 1:56 to play in the third quarter. Lane Miller made the extra point to put West Central ahead 41-0. Vermillion scored with 3:50 to go in the game on a four-yard touchdown run.
