West Central Football Wins Defensive Battle

The West Central Trojan football team got locked into a defensive battle with the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers on Friday, September 1st.  The Trojans scored a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter that proved to be the difference in a 14-6 victory.

The first quarter ended in a scoreless tie.  The Chargers scored first with 8:40 to go in the first half on a 39-yard field goal.  Sioux Falls Chargers held a 3-0 lead at halftime.  West Central took the lead in the final minute of the third quarter.  Caden Alfson had a one-yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown.  The extra point was blocked, and West Central led 6-3.

Sioux Falls Christian tied the game with 9:17 to play in the game.  This time the field goal was made from 22 yards away to tie the score 6-6.  The game winning touchdown for the Trojans was a 25-yard run by Jesse Jost with 5:54 to play.  The two-point conversion was also made for the 14-6 final.
