West Central Legion Loses Two at Home Tournament

The West Central legion baseball team hosted a tournament Friday, June 23rd through Sunday, June 25th.  West Central lost two games during the tournament, one to Lennox and one to Tabor.

Lennox 7, West Central 5

A four-run rally in the top of the seventh helped Lennox to a 7-5 win over West Central on Friday.  West Central lead 4-3 going into the seventh inning.  They scored a run in the first and second innings for a 2-0 lead.  After each team scored a run in the third, West Central led 3-1.  Lennox got one run in the top of the fourth and then tied the game with a run in the top of the sixth.  West Central took the lead back, 4-3, with a run in the bottom of the sixth.  Lennox then scored four in the top of the seventh and held West Central to just one run in the bottom of the inning.

Derek Renken had three hits, including a double.  Will Nester and Domo Chandeswang both had a single and an RBI.  Gage Nelson, Connor Siemonsma, and Cain Grocott all had one hit.  Duece Sherard had an RBI.  Owen Heath pitched six innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts.  Mason Schult pitched one inning and allowed an unearned run with one strikeout.

Tabor 15, West Central 4

After West Central scored a run in the top of the first, Tabor scored 12 straight runs.  Tabor scored three in the first, five in the second, and four in the third for a 12-1 lead.  Both teams scored three times in the fourth inning.

Siemonsma had two hits and two RBIs.  Sherard finished with a single and an RBI.  Nelson, Renken, Landen Holewa, and CJ DenBoer all had a hit.  Nester added an RBI.  Andrew Zimmer pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed 11 runs, just three earned, on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Nelson pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on two hits and three walks.  Chandeswang allowed an earned run on two walks.
