The West Central Blue 14U baseball team won two games on consecutive days. They defeated Garretson on Tuesday, June 20th, and then defeated Canton Blue on Wednesday, June 21st.
West Central Blue 9, Garretson 3
A six-run inning helped West Central break open a close game against Garretson on Tuesday night. Each team scored a run in the first inning. West Central added another run in the bottom of the second for a 2-1 lead. Garretson would tie the game with a run in the top of the third. West Central Blue got the lead back with a single run in the bottom of the fourth. Leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, West Central scored six times for a 9-2 lead. Garretson got one run in the top of the seventh.
Caden Roe had two hits in the game. Taten Vanoverbeke had a single and two RBIs. Eli Koehn had a double and an RBI. Alex Siemonsma and Maddax Jackson each had a single and an RBI. Hayes Cain added a hit, and Ashton Gebhardt had an RBI. Gebhardt pitched three innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Vanoverbeke pitched four innings and allowed an unearned run on one hit and two walks with four strikeouts.
West Central Blue 8, Canton Blue 6
A five-run top of the seventh helped West Central blue to an 8-6 come-from-behind win in Canton on Wednesday. Each team scored three times in the first inning. The scored remained 3-3 until the bottom of the fifth. Canton scored one run in the fifth and then had two more in the bottom of the sixth for a 6-3 lead. West Central scored five runs with two outs in the top of the seventh to steal the victory.
Siemonsma had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Roe had a single with two RBIs. Dylan Bettcher and Jackson each had a hit and an RBI. Cain had a single. Gebhardt finished with two RBIs. Cain pitched three innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Siemonsma pitched four innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
