The West Central Gold 14U split two games on back-to-back nights on Tuesday, June 13th and Wednesday, June 14th. They defeated Canton Gold on Tuesday, but fell to Dell Rapids on Wednesday.
West Central Gold 16, Canton Gold 3
Early runs helped West Central to a 16-3 win on Tuesday. They scored five runs on the bottom of the first and four more in the second for a 9-0 lead. Both teams scored a run in the third inning making the score 10-1. After another run scored by Canton in the top of the fourth, West Central scored six more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning pushing the lead to 16-2. Canton got one more run in the top of the fifth.
Chase Stromer had two hits and two RBIs. B Miller finished with a single and two RBIs. Jacob Mallinger had a hit and an RBI. Langdon Klinkhammer and Chris Ebsen both had a hit each. Kash Garry, Noah Erickson, and Kane Grace all had an RBI. Mallinger pitched three innings and allowed an earned run on three hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Klinkhammer pitched two innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 14, West Central Gold 4
Dell Rapids scored in only two innings, but they scored seven in the bottom of the first and seven in the bottom of the fifth to give them a 14-4 win over West Central on Wednesday. West Central scored three times in the top of the fourth and one more in the fifth making the score 7-4 before Dell Rapids’ second seven-run inning.
Grace had two hits and an RBI. Mallinger finished with a hit and an RBI. Klinkhammer, Stromer, and Luke Larson each had a single. Carson Eich and Garry both had an RBI. Karson Olson pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed seven earned runs on three hits and two walks. Grace pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed just three hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Garry pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing three runs, two earned, on a hit and a walk with a strikeout. Klinkhammer threw 1/3 of an inning allowing four runs, one earned, on a hit and three walks. Erickson also pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing one hit.
