Early Runs Enough to Give West Central Baseball First Win of Season

The West Central high school club baseball team scored two early runs in the top of the first and then scored three more times in 5-1 road win at Flandreau on Tuesday, April 25th.

Brodie Herr put West Central on the board in the top of the first inning with an RBI double.  Herr later scored on a wild pitch making the score 2-0. Flandreau cut the lead in half, 2-1, with one run in the bottom of the first. Caden Alfson had an RBI double in the top of the third inning and then scored on a balk pushing the lead to 4-1.  West Central added another run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Jesse Jost.

Herr and Alfson both had a double and an RBI.  Jost finished with a single and an RBI.  Deuce Sherard had two hits, and Brayden Odegaard also had a single.  Odegaard pitched six innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.  Alfson pitched one inning walking one batter and striking out three.
