West Central Baseball Falls One Run Short to Baltic

The West Central high school club baseball team rallied twice in the game, but they still fell one run short, 8-7, to Baltic on Saturday, April 29th.

West Central broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the third.  Owen Heath scored after stealing home for a 1-0 lead. Baltic would take the lead in the top of the fourth with five runs.  West Central got three runs back in the bottom of the inning.  Brody Jacobson had an RBI single.  Heath had a two-run double later in the inning.  After four innings Baltic led 5-4.  The score remained 5-4 until the top of the sixth.  Baltic added three more runs for an 8-4 lead.  West Central again scored three times in the bottom of the inning.  Jesse Jost had an RBI single, and Deuce Sherard had a two-run double for an 8-7 score.  West Central did get the tying run to third base with two outs, but a strikeout ended the game.

Heath had two hits, a double and triple, with two RBIs.  Sherard had a double and two RBIs.  Jost and Jacobson both had a single and an RBI.  Caden Alfson added two singles.  Brayden Odegaard had a double.  Keaton Vessells had a single.  Andrew Zimmer pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing five earned runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Alfson pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Vessells pitched one inning giving up a hit while striking out two.
