The Tri-Valley Mustang softball team started the 2024 season with two big wins on back-to-back days. The Mustangs hosted the Flandreau Fliers on Thursday, April 4th and then hosted the Baltic Bulldogs on Friday, April 5th.
Tri-Valley 17, Flandreau 2
Flandreau scored the first two runs in the top of the first without a hit for a 2-0 lead. The Mustangs tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the first. Tri-Valley’s offense then exploded for nine runs in the second inning and six in the third to end the game on the 15-run rule.
Kadence Davey had three hits, two doubles and a triple, and two RBIs. Keagan Kuchta had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Syenna Bird also had two hits with an RBI. Izzy Davey finished with a double and two RBIs. Ava Christensen finished with a single and an RBI. Reese Wilt also had an RBI. Emry Jones pitched three innings and allowed two runs on three walks with six strikeouts.
Tri-Valley 18, Baltic 3
The Mustang offense continued to roll in their next game against the Bulldogs. Tri-Valley scored two runs in the bottom of the first, eight in the second, and three in the third for a 13-0 lead. Baltic pushed across three runs in the top of the fourth, but Tri-Valley got five more runs in the bottom of the inning to end the game on the 15-run rule.
K. Davey had three hits, including a home run and a double, with four RBIs. Bird also had three hits, two of them doubles, and an RBI. I. Davey had two doubles and two RBIs. Emery Pearson finished with two hits, one double, and an RBI. Reagan Pearson had a home run and four RBIs. Jones added a double and an RBI. Christensen finished with a single and an RBI. Wilt added a triple. Kuchta and Rowyn Gacke each had a single. I. Davey pitched two innings and allowed just one hit and one walk with two strikeouts. Kuchta pitched two innings and allowed three runs, all unearned, on a hit with four strikeouts.
