Tri-Valley Maroon 16U Rallies for Two Wins to Qualify for State

Tri-Valley Maroon 16U forced a third and final game of the best of three regional series against Wagner on Wednesday, July 26th, and then also won the third game to punch their ticket to the state tournament.

With two out and down by a run in the bottom of the seventh, Gage Egger had an RBI single to tie the game, and Kaiden Bernards hit a game-winning RBI double to give Tri-Valley a walk-off win and force a third game.  Wagner broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the third.  Tri-Valley took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning.  Wagner would respond with three runs in the fourth for a 4-2 lead.  Tri-Valley tied the game with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Wagner regained the lead with one run in the fifth and led 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.

Brody Dybvig had three hits, including a double.  Mason Hemme had two hits and an RBI.  Bernards had a double and two RBIs.  Carter Sorenson and Egger both had a single and an RBI.  Tristen Bunde and Hunter Foster both had one hit each.  Sorenson pitched four innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Dybvig pitched three innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

Tri-Valley 5, Wagner 3

Wagner scored the first three runs of the third and final game between the two teams.  Wagner led 3-0 after two innings.  Tri-Valley chipped away at the lead getting a single run in the third and fourth innings.  They would take the lead, 4-3, with a two-run fifth inning and then add another run in the bottom of the sixth.

C Kirstein and H Foster both had two hits and one RBI each.  Bunde had a single and an RBI.  Dybvig and Egger both finished with a single.  Hemme added an RBI.  Bunde pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on three hits and four walks with five strikeouts.  Sorenson pitched one inning and struck out two batters.  Dybvig pitched one inning and allowed two earned runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
