The Tri-Valley 17U baseball team won one of their last three games. They finished 1-1 in the I-29 League Tournament. In the tournament they defeated Canton on Friday, June 19th but lost to Flandreau on Sunday, June 21st. Tri-Valley then lost a home game to West Central on Tuesday, June 23rd.
Tri-Valley 5, Canton 4
A four-run fourth inning was key to Tri-Valley getting a 5-4 win over Canton. Tri-Valley scored first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Canton grabbed the lead, 2-1, with two runs in the top of the third. Tri-Valley responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go back in front 5-2. Canton scored two more times in the top of the fifth, but Tri-Valley held for the win.
Abbott Moeller, Dante Nehman, and Reed Smith all had a hit and RBI each. Lawson Schneiderman, Evan Focken, Will Winter, and Gerrit Koopman all had one hit each. Schneiderman pitched six innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
Flandreau 2, Tri-Valley 0
Tri-Valley came up shot in a pitcher’s duel against Flandreau. The two teams combined for a total of just six hits. Flandreau scored a run in the bottom of the first and then added another run in the bottom of the fifth in the victory.
Parker Atwood and Koopman had the only two hits for Tri-Valley. Focken pitched five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Moeller pitched one inning and had one strikeout.
West Central 15, Tri-Valley 5
Tri-Valley grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but West Central took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the second. They added two runs in the fourth to make the score 6-2. Tri-Valley cut the lead to 6-4 with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth. West Central, however, kept their offense rolling with two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth, and three more in the seventh. Tri-Valley added just one more run in the bottom of the sixth.
Atwood finished with two hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Focken had two singles with two RBIs. Cooper Durick also had a double. Nehman, Schneiderman, Winter, and Koopman all had one hit each. Winter pitched five innings and allowed 10 earned runs on 10 hits and six walks with one strikeout. Koopman tossed two innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits and a walk with one strikeout.
