Mustangs Win Two at Beresford Softball Tournament

The Tri-Valley Mustang softball team won two of three games at the Beresford Tournament on Saturday, May 4th.  The Mustangs lost to Alcester-Hudson, but earned wins over Flandreau and Sioux Valley.

Alcester-Hudson 8, Tri-Valley 6

The Cubs broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to earn the win over the Mustangs.  Tri-Valley started the game with a run in the top of the first.  Alcester-Hudson scored three in the bottom of the first and three more in the bottom of the second for a 6-1 lead.  Tri-Valley got a run in the top of the third and then tied the game with four runs in the top of the fourth.

Ava Christensen had a double and two RBIs.  Syenna Bird and R Wilt both had a triple and RBI each.  Kadence Davey added a single and an RBI.  Izzy Davey ended with a single.  I. Davey pitched four innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, on 10 hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Tri-Valley 9, Flandreau 2

Six runs in the first two innings for a 6-0 lead paved the way for the Mustangs 9-2 win over the Fliers.  Flandreau scored two runs in the top of the third only to see Tri-Valley score three more in the bottom of the inning.

Isabella Wetmore-Ocampo had three hits and two RBIs.  K. Davey had two doubles and two RBIs.  I. Davey added two singles and an RBI.  Bird had a hit and two RBIs.  Emery Pearson finished with a double and an RBI.  Christensen and Reagan Pearson both had a double.  Wilt had an RBI.  K. Davey pitched five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits and four walks with 12 strikeouts.

Tri-Valley 7, Sioux Valley 6

The Mustangs held off a rally by the Cossacks for a 7-6 win.  Sioux Valley scored a run right away in the top of the first inning.  Tri-Valley got two runs in the bottom of the second.  After Sioux Valley scored another run in the top of the third, the Mustangs scored four times in the bottom of the third.  They added another run in the bottom of the fourth for a 7-2 lead.  Sioux Valley rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth, but the Mustangs held for the win after a ground ball out to second base.

Bird had three hits, including two doubles.  Christensen had two hits and two RBIs.  Reese Wilt had two hits, one a double.  Danika Fluth added a single and two RBIs.  R. Pearson had a double and an RBI.  I. Davey finished with a single and an RBI.  K. Davey had a double.  Wetmore-Ocampo and E. Pearson both had a single.  I. Davey pitched five innings allowing six earned runs on 12 hits with seven strikeouts.
