Mustang Softball Improves to 4-0 with Road Win over Dakota Valley

The Tri-Valley Mustang softball team rallied in the top of the seventh to earn a 9-6 road win over the Dakota Valley Panthers on Monday, April 6th.

After a scoreless first inning, Tri-Valley scored two runs in the top of the second on a two-run home run by Rowyn Gacke.  The Panthers, however, scored three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead.  The Mustangs took advantage of walks in the top of the third.  Hailey Sorenson, Gacke, and Peyton Vogt all drew bases-loaded walks to score three runs to put Tri-Valley in front 5-3.  Dakota Valley got one run back on a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.  After three complete innings, Tri-Valley led 5-4.

The score remained 5-4 until the bottom of the fifth.  The Panthers tied the game, 5-5, on a sacrifice bunt.  Tri-Valley regained the lead, 6-5, after an RBI ground out by Ava Christensen.  The Mustangs pulled away in the top of the seventh.  Vogt had an RBI single.  Mattie Huwe drew a bases-loaded walk, and Christensen had an RBI single to make the score 9-5.  The Panthers scored a run on a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh.

Gacke had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.  Christensen and Vogt each had two hits, both with one double, and two RBIs apiece.  Sorenson added a single and an RBI.  Emry Jones had a triple.  Kadence Davey had a single, and Huwe ended with an RBI.  Jones pitched all seven innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
