Mustang Softball Holds off Dakota Valley

The Tri-Valley Mustang softball team earned their second win of the season by holding off Dakota Valley 9-6 on Monday, April 7th.

The Mustangs put five runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning which included a home run by Kadence Davey, a two-run double by Izzy Davey, and an RBI single by Ava Christensen.  Each team got a run in the second inning, and Tri-Valley led 6-1.  The score remained 6-1 until the fourth inning.

Dakota Valley got one run in the top of the fourth to make the score 6-2.  The Mustangs extended the lead to 8-2 in the bottom of the inning.  The Panthers would plate two runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 8-4.  R Pearson added an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth making the score 9-4.  After a scoreless sixth inning, Dakota Valley got two runs in the top of the seventh with two outs, but the rally was stopped to give Tri-Valley the win.

Emery Pearson had three hits.  K. Davey had two hits, a home run and double, with an RBI.  Christensen had two hits and an RBI.  Mattie Huwe also had two hits, one a triple.  Emry Jones ended with a double and single.  Izzy Davey had a double and two RBIs.  Reagan Pearson had a single and RBI.  Syenna Halverson had a single, and Keagan Kuchta added an RBI.  Jones pitched all seven innings allowing six earned runs on seven hits and seven walks with 12 strikeouts.
