Mustang Softball Finishes 0-3 in Beresford Tournament

The Tri-Valley Mustang softball team played in the Beresford Tournament on Saturday, May 6th.  Tri-Valley dropped all three of their pool play games.  They had games against Beresford, West Central, and Winner.

Beresford 16, Tri-Valley 2

The Mustangs scored two runs right away in the top of the first for an early 2-0 lead.  Isabella Wetmore-Ocampo had an RBI single, and Alayna Ebert had an RBI single to put Tri-Valley in front.  They remained in the lead 2-0 after the first inning.  Beresford, however, scored three times in the bottom of the second, and then had a big 11-run inning in the third, and finally two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Emery Pearson had three hits, including a double.  Wetmore-Ocampo had two hits and an RBI.  Ebert finished with a single and an RBI.  Ebert pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing 16 runs, 15 earned, on 10 hits and 19 walks with four strikeouts.  Tyler Gibson pitched 1/3 of an inning.

West Central 18, Tri-Valley 2

The Trojans scored in every inning on their way to an 18-2 win over the Mustangs.  West Central got two runs in the bottom of the first, eight in the second, two in the third, and then six more in the bottom of the fourth.  Tri-Valley got two runs in the top of the fourth.  Both of the runs scored on a Trojan error.

Pearson had the only hit for Tri-Valley.  Julia Mauszycki pitched 3 1/3 total innings allowing 18 runs, 16 earned on 18 hits with no walks.

Winner 9, Tri-Valley 2

Winner defeated the Tri-Valley Mustangs in the final pool play game of the day for Tri-Valley 9-2.  No other details are currently available.
