The Colton Shockers legion baseball team hosted Lake Norden in a double header on Sunday, June 25th. The Shockers lost both games by a score of 2-4 and 3-13.
Lake Norden 4, Colton 2
Lake Norden scored two runs in the top of the first inning and held the lead throughout the game. The Shockers cut the lead in half after an RBI single by Nolan Carls in the bottom of the fourth. Lake Norden added another run in the top of the fifth. Everett Althoff scored on an error in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 3-2, but Lake Norden got an insurance run in the top of the sixth to secure the win.
Althoff had two hits, including a double. Carls had a single and RBI. Noah Haynes also had a hit in the game. Kaden Egger pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and a walk with nine strikeouts. Haynes pitched two innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and two walks with one strikeout.
Lake Norden 13, Colton 3
Both teams scored in the first and third innings, but Lake Norden added seven runs late to pull away 13-3 in the second game. Lake Norden scored three times in the top of the first. Colton got one run in the bottom of the inning. The scored remained 3-1 until the top of the third. Lake Norden had another three-run inning. The Shockers got two runs back, cutting the lead to 6-3. Lake Norden then scored four runs in the top of the fifth and three more in the top of the sixth.
Althoff had three of the four hits for Colton, which included a double and triple. He also had an RBI. Carls had the other hit for the Shockers. Haynes finished with an RBI. Cody Lofswold pitched two innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Cole Focken pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Althoff pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, all unearned, on four walks with three strikeouts.
