Colton Legion Scores Two in Seventh to Beat Baltic

The Colton Shockers scored two runs in the top of the seventh to earn an 8-6 win over Baltic on Tuesday, June 27th.  The win snapped a nine-game losing streak.

Nathan Madison had an RBI double, and Barrett Althoff had an RBI ground out in the top of the first for an early 2-0 lead.  Baltic scored three times in the bottom of the first for a 3-2 lead.  Colton then had a four-run second inning.  Aiden Heitkamp had a run-scoring ground ball.  Cole Focken had a two-run single, and Noah Haynes scored on an error for a 6-3 lead.  Baltic had another three-run inning in the bottom of the third to tie the game 6-6.

The game remained tied 6-6 until the top of the seventh inning.  Althoff belted a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the seventh to put the Shockers ahead 8-6.  Colton then held Baltic to just one hit in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.

Althoff had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.  Madison had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Focken had a hit and two RBIs.  Haynes finished with a double.  Tyler Groenwald and Carter Sorenson each had a hit.  Sorenson pitched two innings and allowed six earned runs on eight hits and four walks.  Groenwald pitched five innings and allowed three hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
