The Colton Yard Goats legion team finished 2-2 in their last four games. They played three games at the Clark Rotary Legion Tournament Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th. They then hosted Lake Norden on Monday, July 13th.
Lennox 8, Colton 5 – Clark Tournament
Lennox scored four times in the top of the first and then held off Colton in Colton’s first game of the tournament. The Yard Goats got one run in the bottom of the first to make the score 4-1. They added two more in the bottom of the third to pull within a run, 4-3. Lennox, however, scored a run in the top of the fourth and two more in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-3. Colton got a run in the bottom of the fifth. Each team also scored a run in the sixth.
Treyson Richter had three hits, two of them doubles, with an RBI. Alex Wingen had two hits and an RBI. Brody Dybvig also had two hits. Denton Bicknase finished with a double and two RBIs. Mason Hemme had one hit.
Lisbon, ND 8, Colton 0 – Clark Tournament
The Yard Goats were held to just three hits in their game against Lisbon also on Friday. Lisbon scored three times in the bottom of the first and held a 3-0 lead until the fourth. They then scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the fifth.
Dybvig, Richter, and Bicknase all had one hit each for Colton.
Colton 9, Milbank 1 – Clark Tournament
The Yard Goats finished the Clark Tournament with a win on Saturday. Milbank scored the first of the game, and their only run, in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead. Colton responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning for a 4-1 lead. They scored three more in the third and two in the fourth for the win.
Bicknase had two hits and an RBI. Jackson Williams had a single with an RBI. Wingen added a double. Braxton Allen ended with a single, and Parker Hemme had an RBI. Wingen also pitched all five innings and allowed one earned run on three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.
Colton 9, Lake Norden 7
The Yard Goats rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a win over Lake Norden on Monday. Colton scored a single run in the bottom of the first and second innings for an early 2-0 lead. Lake Norden got one run in the top of the third. The Yard Goats scored three times in the bottom of the third to make the score 5-1. Lake Norden, however, scored five runs in the top of the fourth and added another in the fifth to take a 7-5 lead. Colton rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth taking advantage of a couple of errors to go in front 9-7 and earn the win.
Allen finished with a single and two RBIs. Wingen had a double and an RBI. Dybvig and Richter each had a single with an RBI. Ty Oyen added a single, and Owen Effling had an RBI.
