The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team ended their six-match losing streak with a win over the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars on Thursday, October 3rd. The Mustangs won in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-28, and 26-24.
Tri-Valley took the lead to start the first set and stayed in front the whole way. The Mustangs led 6-2 and then 8-4. After the Cougars pulled within three, 12-9, Tri-Valley scored three in a row for a 15-9 lead. They extended the lead to 23-14 before winning 25-15. After a 3-3 tie to start the second set, the Cougars went in front 6-4. Tri-Valley tied the score 10-10 and then went on a 9-2 run for a 19-12 lead. Each team scored six more points as the Mustangs stayed in front to a 25-18 win.
The Mustangs opened the third set on a 4-0 run. McCook Central/Montrose went on a run of 10-5 to take a 10-9 lead. The Cougars kept the lead to 18-16. Tri-Valley tied the score 20-20. The teams traded points to ties of 21-21, 22-22, 23-23, and 24-24. The Mustangs scored the final two points to complete the come-from-behind win, 26-24.
