Mustang Volleyball Takes Loss on Back-to-Back Nights

A night after playing a five-set match, the Tri-Valley Mustangs hit the road to Canistota on Tuesday, October 1st.  The Hawks would win the match in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-20.

Canistota started the first set with a 4-2 lead.  Tri-Valley tied the score 4-4 and then went on a 6-1 run for a 10-5 advantage.  The Mustangs continued to lead by scores for 12-9 and 15-13, but Canistota went on a 4-1 run at that point for a 17-16 lead.  After an 18-18 tie score, the Hawks finished the set on a 7-1 run for a 25-19 win.

The second set started with a 4-4 tie, but Canistota went on a 4-1 run for an 8-5 advantage.  That run helped build momentum as the Hawks extended their lead to 17-10.  Tri-Valley got within four points, 23-19, but Canistota won the second set 25-20.  The Hawks jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the third set and built a 10-2 advantage.  Canistota kept about a seven-point lead all the way to 22-15.  The Mustangs got within four, 24-20, but the Hawks got the final point to finish the match 25-20.

Abigail Wagner finished with 18 set assists, five digs, and two ace serves.  Madelyn Wenzel added 11 kills and nine digs.  Macey Boese had 13 digs, while Brooke Steineke had 11 digs.  Emery Pearson ended with four kills, and Tori O’Toole had three kills.
