Mustangs Face Tough Watchdog Team in Football Action

Tri-Valley ran into a tough road test Friday night in Beresford, as the Watchdogs used a flurry of early scores and a strong second quarter to pull away for a 30-14 win over the Mustangs.
The Mustangs got a spark in the opening quarter when Alex McFarland jumped a pass and took it three yards for an interception return touchdown to put Tri-Valley in front 6-0.  Beresford answered late in the first quarter with a six-yard touchdown run, then converted the two-point try to move in front 8-6.
The Watchdogs continued to build momentum in the second quarter, punching in a one-yard touchdown run and adding another two-point conversion to extend the lead to 16-6. Beresford struck again later in the quarter with a five-yard touchdown run, and another successful two-point attempt pushed the advantage to 24-6 heading into halftime.
Tri-Valley kept battling and found the end zone in the third quarter. McFarland capped a Mustang drive with a four-yard touchdown run, and Tri-Valley converted the two-point attempt to cut the deficit to 24-14.  But Beresford closed the door in the fourth quarter, connecting on a 14-yard touchdown pass to stretch the lead back out to 30-14 and seal the Watchdog victory.
