Tri-Valley Baseball’s Late Rally Falls Short Against Dell Rapids

The Tri-Valley high school baseball team scored four runs in the final two innings, but their rally fell short at home on Sunday, April 14th.  Dell Rapids held for a 9-5 win.

Everett Althoff scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first inning for an early 1-0 lead for Tri-Valley.  Dell Rapids, however, scored four times in the top of the third.  They would score another run in the fourth and add four more runs in the top of the sixth for a 9-1 lead.

Hunter Foster had an RBI groundout in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 9-2.  With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Tri-Valley put together a little rally.  Cody Lofswold scored on a steal of home.  Alex Wingen and Treyson Richter both scored on an error with two outs to make the score 9-5, but the rally was stopped.

Nathan Madison had two hits, one of them a double.  Wingen, Tyler Groenewold, Cyrus Kirstein, and R Lehman all had one hit each.  Foster had the lone RBI in the game.  Landon Schenkel pitched five innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, on four hits and four walks with nine strikeouts.  Tristen Bunde pitched two innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, on two hits with four strikeouts.
