Mustangs Football Wins Final Regular Season Game

The Tri-Valley Mustang football team ended their 2023 regular season on the road in Wagner on Friday, October 13th.  The Mustangs earned a 38-6 win over the Red Raiders to finish the regular season with a 5-3 record.

Four different Mustangs found the endzone in the game.  Landyn Reiser started the scoring with a 28-yard run with 7:55 to go in the first quarter.  Eli McFarland had a one-yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown.  Reese Smith made both extra points, and Tri-Valley led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Smith added a 30-yard field goal with 4:51 to play in the second quarter to extend the lead to 17-0.  Hayden Hastings crossed the goal line from six yards away with just seconds remaining in the half.  Smith made another extra point to give the Mustangs a 24-0 lead at halftime.

Brody Dybvig had two rushing touchdowns in the second half.  His first one was a 36-yard run with 9:32 to go in the third quarter.  He then scored on a big 78-yard run with 6:24 remaining in the game.  Smith made both extra points for a 38-0 lead.  Wagner scored in the final seconds of the game on a one-yard run.

Tri-Valley will be the #5 seed in the 11B playoffs.  They will host #12 St Thomas More Cavaliers on Thursday, October 19th at 5:30 p.m.
