Second Half Surge Lifts Huskies over Tri-Valley

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies scored all three of their touchdowns in the second half and earned a 24-14 come-from-behind win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs on Friday, October 6th.

Tri-Valley put to big scores on the board in the first half.  Brody Dybvig had a 51-yard touchdown in the first quarter.  Eli McFarland added a 68-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.  Reese Smith made both extra points, and the Mustangs led 14-0 at halftime.

The Huskies picked up some momentum on the very first offensive play of the second half.  Elk Point-Jefferson had a 75-yard touchdown run.  They also made the two-point conversion to cut the lead to 14-8.  The Huskies would take the lead, 16-14, later in the third quarter on a nine-yard touchdown run and made two-point version.  Elk Point-Jefferson added another score in the fourth quarter on a four-yard run.

The Mustangs finished with 258 yards of offense, 264 rushing yards and -6 passing yards.  The Huskies finished with 304 yards of offense, 251 rushing yards and 53 passing yards.

McFarland had eight carries for 111 yards and a touchdown.  Dybvig had 10 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown.  Colby Carruthers added nine carries for 44 yards.  McFarland was 1-5 passing for -6 yards and two interceptions and also had six tackles.  Landyn Reiser had four tackles and an interception.  Trey Johnson, and Carruthers both had four tackles each.  Logan Ellison had three tackles.  Hayden Hastings had a fumble recovery.
