West Central Stops Tri-Valley on the Gridiron

The West Central Trojans hosted the Tri-Valley Mustangs for the Trojan Homecoming football game on Friday, September 29th.  West Central came away victorious by a score of 20-6.

Neither team scored in the opening quarter, but West Central scored early in the second.  With 10:29 to go in the first half, Chet Carda scored on a two-yard run and then also made the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.  The Trojans added to the lead when Jesse Jost scored on a two-yard run with 4:26 to play.  Tri-Valley got a score on the board before halftime.  Eli McFarland connected with Trey Johnson for a 32-yard touchdown pass with 1:03 left in the half.  West Central led 14-6 at halftime.

The Trojans got the only score in the second half late in the third quarter.  Aiden Bartmann had a one-yard touchdown run with 2:10 remaining in the quarter.  Both defenses held the remainder of the game.

West Central finished with 368 yards of total offense, 225 rushing yards and 143 passing yards.  Carda had 16 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown.  Bartmann had 13 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown.  Jost finished with eight carries for 54 yards and a touchdown.  Caden Alfson was 5-10 passing for 143 yards.  Layton Johnson had two catches for 69 yards.  Trevin Price had two catches for 34 yards, and Crew Heier had a catch for 40 yards.  Carda had seven tackles in the game to lead the defense.

Tri-Valley finished the game with just 145 yards of offense, 17 rushing yards and 128 passing yards.  Hayden Hastings had six carries for 13 yards, and Carter Sorenson had five carries for 11 yards.  McFarland was 7-12 passing for 128 yards and a touchdown.  Johnson had a catch for 32 yards and a touchdown.  Landyn Reiser had two catches for 40 yards, and Brody Dybvig had two catches for 34 yards.  Colby Carruthers finished with 11 tackles.  Brendan Newman added six tackles, and Isaac Nehlich had five tackles.
