Tri-Valley Football Wins Road Game after Bye Week

The Tri-Valley Mustang football team didn’t let their bye week slow them down.  After a week away from action, the Mustangs earned a 17-0 road win at Mt Vernon/Plankinton on Friday, September 22nd.

Tri-Valley put two scores on the board in the first half.  After a scoreless first quarter, Landyn Reiser had a 26-yard touchdown run with 7:57 to go in the half.  Reese Smith made the extra point for a 7-0 lead.  With less then a minute to play in the second quarter, Hayden Hastings had a 17-yard touchdown run.  Smith made the extra point, and Tri-Valley led 14-0 at halftime.

The Mustangs put together a very long opening drive to start the second half.  The drive didn’t end in a touchdown, but Smith put points on the board with a 28-yard field goal with 3:26 to go in the third quarter.  That was the last score of the game.

Tri-Valley finished with 265 yards of total offense, 228 rushing yards and 37 passing yards.  The Titans had just 122 yards of offense, 101 rushing yards and 21 passing yards.

Brody Dybvig had 11 carries for 74 yards.  Reiser had two carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.  Colby Carruthers had nine carries for 46 yards.  Eli McFarland finished with six carries for 23 yards, and Hastings finished with five rushes for 28 yards and a touchdown.  McFarland was also 3-6 passing for 37 yards.  Cyrus Kirstein had a catch for 37 yards.

Issac Nehlich had a team-high four tackles in the game.  Logan Ellison had three tackles and an interception.  Tyler Groenewold and McFarland both had three tackles.  Trey Johnson had two tackles and fumble recovery.
