The Dell Rapids Jr Legion baseball team had their season come to an end in the Region 2B Tournament on Wednesday, July 29th in the championship game. The team earned two wins on Tuesday, July 27th to advance to the championship game.
Dell Rapids 13, Garretson 1
A five-run bottom of the first was more than enough in a win on Tuesday against Garretson. Garretson scored their lone run in the top of the second for a 5-1 score. Dell Rapids then added four in the bottom of the second, one in the third, and three more in the bottom of the fourth. The game ended on the 10-run rule after the top of the fifth inning.
Bryson Schroeder had three hits, one of them a double. Owen Bollock and Lucas Peppel both had two hits and two RBIs each. Charlie Bollock had two hits and an RBI. Haiden Kaffar added a triple and two RBIs. Caiden Borns and Rhett Thoreson each had a single with an RBI. AJ Brandenburg had a hit. Chace Stroschein and Brooks Brende each had an RBI.
Dell Rapids 15, Baltic 5
Baltic took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second with a run. The lead did not last long. Dell Rapids scored 12 times in the bottom of the second and added another in the bottom of the third for a 13-1 lead. Baltic scored four times in the top of the fifth. Dell Rapids had a run in the bottom of the fifth and then got one more in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Brende had three hits and two RBIs. Brandenburg had a double and single with an RBI. C. Bollock had a single and three RBIs. Kaffar added a double with two RBIs. Schroeder also had a hit with two RBIs. Peppel and Thoreson each finished with a single. Borns had two RBIs, and O. Bollock finished with one.
Madison 11, Dell Rapids 6
A big six-run sixth inning helped Madison win the Region 2B Tournament. Dell Rapids took the lead early with three runs in the top of the first. Madison countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The score remained 3-2 until the bottom of the fifth. Madison scored three runs to go in front 5-3. They added six more in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 11-3. Dell Rapids scored three runs in the top of the seventh.
Borns had a double and a single. Kaffar had a home run with two RBIs. C. Bollock had a single with an RBI. Thoreson also had a hit. O. Bollock, Peppel, and Cutler Erickson all had one RBI each.
