The Dell Rapids Jr Legion baseball team suffered a 9-7 home loss to Beresford on Thursday, July 16th.
Dell Rapids scored a run in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead. Beresford scored two in the top of the third to go in front 2-1. Dell Rapids retook the lead with a five run bottom of the third. They added another run in the bottom of the fourth to push the lead to 7-2. Beresford, however, had a big six-run top of the fifth to take the lead back, 8-7. They would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Charlie Bollock had two hits and an RBI. AJ Brandenburg also had two singles. Haiden Kaffar had a single with an RBI. Bryson Schroeder had a single, and Cutler Erickson had an RBI. Brandenburg pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs, four earned, on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Rhett Thoreson pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed an earned run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
