Dell Rapids PBR rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth to help force extra innings, and then they scored three times in the 10th to steal a 12-10 win over the Flandreau Cardinals in Flandreau on Sunday, June 28th.
PBR took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the second inning. Flandreau tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third. PBR went back in front 3-1 with a two-run top of the fifth. The Cardinals, however, responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to go in front 4-3. They would get two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 6-3. Flandreau looked to be headed to victory after scoring to more runs in the bottom of the eighth to give them an 8-3 lead.
PBR had different ideas as they rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth to go in front 9-8. Flandreau, however, tied the game in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings. PBR kept the momentum going and scored three times in the top of the 10th for a 12-9 lead. Flandreau was only able to get one run in the bottom of the inning.
Jake Brandenburg finished with four hits and three RBIs. CJ Smith had four hits and an RBI in the game. Drew Sweeter had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Trey Randel ended with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Chris Kropuenske had a single with two RBIs. Connor Spindler had a double, and Tad Tjaden finished with two RBIs.
