The Dell Rapids high school baseball team picked up two wins in Baltic on Tuesday, May 12th. They defeated both Baltic and Clark Area.
Dell Rapids 20, Baltic 4
In the first game of the evening, Dell Rapids’ offense was rolling as they took the three-inning win. They scored six times right away in the top of the first inning. Baltic did cut the lead in half, 6-3, with a three-run bottom of the first. Dell Rapids would get those three runs back in the top of the second. They then had an 11-run top of the third for a 20-3 lead. Baltic scored one time in the bottom of the third, and the game ended on the 15-run rule.
Drake Eastman had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs. Tommy LaVoy ended with two singles and two RBIs. Carson Maeschen had a double with two RBIs. Kenny Swanson added a single and two RBIs. AJ Brandenburg had a hit and an RBI. Jackson Peppel had a single. Jake Heinitz ended with two RBIs, and Lincoln LeBrun had one RBI. Owen Bollock pitched three innings and allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 12, Clark Area 4
Clark held a 2-1 lead after the first inning, but Dell Rapids kept adding runs throughout the game to get the win. Dell Rapids had two runs in the second, one in the third, and two more in the top of the fourth to make the score 6-2. After a scoreless fifth inning, they added three more runs in the top of the sixth and another three in the seventh for a 12-2 lead. Clark Area added two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Swanson had two hits and an RBI. Peppel ended with two hits, one a double. Gauge Bunkers had a double and two RBIs. Brandenburg and Heinitz each had a hit. Eastman added two RBIs. LeBrun and LaVoy each had one RBI. Bunkers pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Cam Jones pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks with one strikeout.
