The Dell Rapids high school baseball team earned an 11-1 road victory against Dakota Valley on Sunday, April 12th.
Drake Eastman got the scoring started with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. The score remained 2-0 until the top of the fourth. T Lavoy had an RBI single and then later scored on a wild pitch. C Hanson added an RBI single to make the score 5-0.
Dakota Valley got their run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dell Rapids scored six times with two outs in the top of the fifth. J Peppel had a bases-loaded walk. Eastman cleared the bases with a three-run triple. Hanson followed with an RBI single, and K Swanson had an RBI double.
Eastman finished with a home run and triple with five RBIs. Hanson had two singles and two RBIs. LaVoy added two hits and an RBI. Swanson ended with a double and an RBI. Gauge Bunkers and Jake Heinitz each had a hit, and Peppel had an RBI. Eastman pitched all five innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.
