The Dell Rapids Mudcats pulled away late for a 7-2 win against the Winner/Colome Pheasants in the opening round of the 2025 South Dakota State B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Brandon on Sunday, August 10th.
The Mudcats scored two runs right away in the top of the first. The Pheasants got one run back in the bottom of the second to cut the lead in half, 2-1. Dell Rapids added two more runs in the fourth, but once again, the Pheasants got a run an inning later. The Mudcats led 4-2 after five innings of play. The score remained 4-2 until the top of the eighth. The Mudcats scored a run in the eighth and then two more in the ninth to pull away for the win.
Ty Hoglund had four hits in the game. Grant Olson had two hits, one a home run, and an RBI. Jake Goble had a home run and two RBIs. Carter Gullickson and Chad Hunt each had a single and an RBI. Reece Arbogast pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Goble pitched three innings and allowed a hit and walk with two strikeouts.
