Dell Rapids Baseball Sees Winning Streak Come to End

The Dell Rapids high school baseball team suffered their first loss in over a year and had their 34-game winning streak snapped on Thursday, April 3rd.  Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery scored eight runs late in the game to win 8-2.

The game was scoreless through the first two innings of the game.  Dell Rapids grabbed the lead in the top of the third.  Cooper Frost had an RBI single to score Cole Ruesink for a 1-0 lead.  Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery tied the game, 1-1, on an error in the bottom of the fourth inning.  They would grab momentum in the fifth inning.  Two runs came in for Hanson/Bridgewater/Emery on an error, and they added another run on an RBI sacrifice bunt for a 4-1 lead.  They added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 8-1.  Tad Tjaden added an RBI groundout in the top of the seventh for Dell Rapids.

Ruesink had two hits.  Frost finished with a single and an RBI.  Drake Eastman and Jackson Peppel both had a single in the game.  Tjaden added an RBI.  Ruesink pitched five innings allowing four runs, but just one earned, on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Talan Millage threw an inning and allowed four earned runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
