After having multiple games postponed due to weather, the Dell Rapids Quarriers finally had their first game of the 2024 season on Tuesday, April 9th. The Quarriers used a big fifth inning in a 12-0 win over the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers.
Dell Rapids scored in each of the first three innings. Kylie Lebahn drew a bases-loaded walk and Claire Wynja stole home in the top of the first inning. Lexi Scherff scored on an error in the second inning, and Makaylah O’Meara had an RBI ground out in the third inning for a 4-0 lead. The big blow by Dell Rapids game in the top of the fifth when they scored eight times. O’Meara had an RBI triple. Lebahn followed with an RBI single. Kylee Fiddelke added and two-run single. Wynja had an RBI single, and Fiddelke later scored on a passed ball for a 12-0 score.
Katie Kvigne pitched a strong four innings allowing just two hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Paige Trewin pitched one inning and allowed one hit and had two strikeouts.
LeBahn finished with three hits and two RBIs. O’Meara had two hits, one a triple, and four RBIs. Fiddelke added a single and two RBIs. Wynja had a single and an RBI. Jaycee Tebay ended with a double. Kvigne, Scherff, and Emma Lanpher all had a single.
