The Dell Rapids 16U baseball team remained undefeated after a 10-3 victory over Tea Gold at home on Monday, June 26th.
Dell Rapids grabbed an early lead after an RBI single by Brandon Schmidt in the bottom of the first inning. Tea scored two times in the top of the third inning, but Dell Rapids tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by Talan Millage. Dell Rapids went ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning with three runs. Carson Maeschen had an RBI single, Logan Donovan followed with an RBI groundout, and Cole Ruesink also had an RBI ground out.
Tea got one more run in the top of the sixth inning to pull within two, 5-3. Dell Rapids then put the game away with five runs in the bottom half of the sixth. Connor Hanson had an RBI ground ball. Ruesink followed with a two-run triple. Lincoln Fersdahl and Kenneth Swanson both had an RBI sacrifice fly.
Will Zwach had two hits, including a double. Ruesink had a triple and three RBIs. Millage added a double and an RBI. Fersdahl, Schmidt, and Maeschen all had a hit and an RBI. Cooper Frost and Carson Crosby both finished with a single. Swanson and Donovan added RBIs. Fersdahl pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks with 12 strikeouts. Ruesink pitched two innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
