Mudcats Have Nine-Run Eighth in Win over Gamecocks

The Dell Rapids Mudcats used a nine-run eighth inning for a 10-1 win over the Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks at home on Sunday, June 11th.

Spencer Fruedenthal put the Mudcats on top 1-0 with an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning.  The Gamecocks tied the game getting a run on an error in the top of the sixth inning.

Dell Rapids then got the offense rolling in the top of the eighth.  After three straight singles, Mark Abrahamson hit a grand slam giving the Mudcats a 5-1 lead.  Grant Olson had an RBI single later in the inning.  Ty Hoglund had a two-run single, and Chad Hunt also had a two-run single.

Hoglund finished with four hits and two RBIs.  Hunt had two hits and two RBIs.  Abrahamson had the home run and four RBIs.  Olson and Fruedenthal both had a hit and an RBI.  Kole Zimmerman had two hits, one of them a double.  Landon Ruesink also had two hits.  Carter Gullickson, Kris Regas, and Dalton Allen all had one hit each.  Dalton Lehnen pitched eight innings allowing one run on two hits with 12 strikeouts.  Abrahamson pitched  a scoreless ninth inning.
