The Dell Rapids high school club baseball team picked up their first win of the season and won their first home game of the year on Monday, April 17th. Dell Rapids hosted Flandreau/Chester/Colman-Egan and earned an 11-0 win in five innings.
Dell Rapids scored early with three runs in the bottom of the first. CJ Smith had a two-run single, and Drake Eastman followed with an RBI single. The big inning came in the bottom of the third for Dell Rapids. Will Jaton scored on a dropped third strike, Treyse Eastman had an RBI double, and then scored on a wild pitch. Smith had another RBI double, and then he scored on an error to give Dell Rapids a 9-0 lead. The final two runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Talan Millage had an RBI ground out, and Joe Rechtenbaugh had an RBI double.
Dell Rapids had eight total hits. T. Eastman had three hits, a single, double and triple, with an RBI. Smith had two hits, one a double, and four RBIs. Rechtenbaugh had a double and an RBI. D. Eastman had a hit and an RBI. Lincoln Fersdahl had a single, and Millage added an RBI. Tad Tjaden pitched all five innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six.
