The Dell Rapids Phils legion team earned a walk-off win over Madison with a four-run bottom of the seventh to win 9-8 on Wednesday, July 1st.
After a scoreless first inning, Madison scored three times in the top of the second and two more in the top of the third to take a 5-0 lead. They added one more run in the top of the fifth. Dell Rapids cut the lead to 6-5 with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Madison extended their lead to 8-5 with two runs in the top of the seventh. Dell Rapids rallied for four runs with just one out in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
Ryan Brandenburg had three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs. Haiden Kaffer had two hits and two RBIs. Gauge Bunkers had a single with two RBIs. Kenny Swanson had a double and an RBI. AJ Brandenburg also had a hit with an RBI.
Connor Hanson pitched five innings and allowed six earned runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Bunkers pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout.
