Ninth-Inning Rally Helps PBR to Win over Madison

Dell Rapids PBR rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth to lead them to a 12-8 win over the Madison Broncos in Madison on Tuesday, June 30th.

After two scoreless innings, Madison took the lead, 2-0, with two runs in the bottom of the third.  PBR got a run in the top of the fourth, but Madison had another two-run inning in the bottom of the fourth for a 4-1 lead.  Both teams scored two runs each in the fifth, and Madison led 6-3 after five innings.

PBR had a small rally in the sixth and seventh innings.  They scored a run in the sixth and then two more in the seventh to tie the game 6-6.  Neither team scored in the eighth inning.  PBR then strung together six runs, most of them with one out, to take a 12-6 lead.  The Broncos were only able to get two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Riley Calhoon had two hits, one a home run, and two RBIs.  Chris Kropuenske had two singles and two RBIs.  Zach Puetz ended with a home run and single with an RBI.  Jake Brandenburg, Conner Spindler, and Lincoln Fersdahl all had two hits and an RBI each.  Riley Hoffman added a single and two RBIs.  Drew Sweeter had a single and an RBI.

Grant Sweeter pitched five innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits and a walk with a strikeout.  Tanner Solberg tossed four innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
