Despite being out hit in the game, the Dell Rapids high school baseball team extended their winning streak to 14 games with a 4-2 win in Lennox on Thursday, May 7th.
AJ Brandenburg scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning to give Dell Rapids a 1-0 lead. Jackson Peppel had an RBI double, and Drake Eastman followed with an RBI single in the top of the third to extend the lead to 3-0. Eastman added an RBI double in the top of the fifth making the score 4-0. The score remained 4-0 until the bottom of the seventh. Lennox scored on a ground out and double to cut the lead in half, 4-2, but the next two batters were retired to give Dell Rapids the win.
Eastman finished with three hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Connor Hanson had two singles. Peppel finished with a double and an RBI. Gaugre Bunkers ended with a single. Bunkers pitched six innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits with five strikeouts. Brandenburg ptiched one inning and allowed one hit.
