The Dell Rapids high school baseball team hosted Beresford on senior night at Rickeman Field on Wednesday, April 29th. Dell Rapids earned their 11th straight win with a 12-5 victory.
Beresford scored in the top of the first inning on a bases-loaded walk for a 1-0 lead. Connor Hanson had a two-run single in the bottom of the inning, and Gauge Bunkers had an RBI ground out later in the inning for a 3-1 lead. Kenny Swanson had an RBI single in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 4-1.
Hudson Wolff scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth. Swanson brought home two runs with a double and then scored on an error to put Dell Rapids ahead 8-1. Beresford picked up a run in the top of the fifth inning. Drake Eastman drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the inning to go back in front by seven, 9-2.
Beresford rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull within four runs, 9-5. Jake Heinitz reached on an error that also scored Wolff in the bottom of the sixth. Carson Maeschen had an RBI single, and Eli Gullickson stole home to make the score 12-5. Beresford was held scoreless in the top of the seventh.
Jackson Peppel finished with four singles. Maeschen had three hits, one a double, and an RBI. Swanson had a single and double with three RBIs. Bunkers added two singles and an RBI. Hanson had a hit with two RBIs. Eastman finished with two RBIs, and Ryan Stubbe had one hit. Bunkers pitched five innings and allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits and six walks with three strikeouts. Owen Bollock pitched two innings and allowed an unearned run on a hit and walk with a strikeout.
The 2026 Dell Rapids high school baseball seniors are Ryan Stubbe, Drake Eastman, Connor Hanson, Carson Maeschen, Kenny Swanson, and Lincoln LeBrun.
