The Dell Rapids High School bowling team started their 2024 season with a home match against O’Gorman. The girls team hosted the Knights on Thursday, October 31st, and the boys team had their match on Friday, November 1st.
The girls team earned a 42-8 team win over O’Gorman. Aisley Grib had games of 200 and 206 on her way to a 524 series. Avery Cole had a 189 game with a 474 series, and Chrissa Sondergaard had a game of 182 with a 519 series.
The boys team fell by a score of 8-42. Blake Lewis had a high game of 266 with a 630 series. Dylan Aker had a 234 game and a 554 series. Isaac Whitcomb also had a 554 series with a high game of 219.
The head-to-head team scores are based on a 50-point system. The varsity teams are divided into two teams of three. The teams bowl head-to-head against the opposing team. Each bowler is bowling head-to-head against the opponent across from them, and teams as a whole are also bowling against each other. The points break down is as follows: one point for the bowler winning their individual game, three points for the team winning the game, one point for the individual bowler having the highest individual series in the matchup, four points for the team having the highest series in the matchup, and four final points to the team that has the highest series overall.
