Strong Second and Fourth Quarters Key to Win for Quarrier Boys

The Dell Rapids Quarriers had two strong defensive quarters to help them to a 64-45 win over the Milbank Bulldogs on Monday, January 22nd.

Dell Rapids built a five-point lead by the end of the first quarter, 19-14.  Their first big defensive quarter came in the second.  The Quarriers held Milbank to just nine points and took a 34-23 lead into halftime.  The Bulldogs cut into the lead in the third quarter, but just by two points, and trailed 49-40 going into the fourth quarter.  The Quarrier defense shut down the Bulldogs and held them to just five points to help secure the win.

Dell Rapids shot 55% (27-49) overall in the game, 23% (3-13) from three-point area, and 47% (7-15) from the free-throw line.  Milbank shot 32% (17-54) overall, 20% (5-25) from three-point area, and 55% (6-11) from the free-throw line.

Three players finished in double figures for Dell Rapids.  Jack Henry had 20 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Rhett Kloth finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and six blocked shots.  Tad Tjaden added 10 points and two steals.  Treyse Eastman had nine points, four rebounds, and five assists.
