The Dell Rapids 16U baseball team picked up two more wins after victories on back-to-back nights. They defeated Parker on Wednesday, July 19th and then defeated Lennox on Thursday, July 20th. The two wins improves their record to 19-0 on the season.
Dell Rapids 14, Parker 7
A pair of five-run innings helped Dell Rapids to a 14-7 win. Dell Rapids scored a single run in both the first and second innings for a 2-0 lead. Each team scored a run in the third, and then Dell Rapids had their first five-run inning in the fourth to make the score 8-1. Parker scored three times in the top of the fifth, while Dell Rapids scored one run. After five innings of play, Dell Rapids led 9-4. Parker had another three-run inning in the sixth, but Dell Rapids scored another five runs in the bottom of the inning for the 14-7 win.
Quinn Carr had three hits and three RBIs. Carson Maeschen had two hits and two RBIs. Cole Ruesink and Talan Millage each had two hits and an RBI. Tad Tjaden finished with two hits, one of them a double. Lincoln Fersdahl and Brandon Schmidt both had a single and an RBI. Connor Hanson added a hit. Ruesink pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits and five walks with four strikeouts. Hanson pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed four walks with one strikeout. Kenneth Swanson pitched an inning and allowed three unearned runs on four walks and a strikeout.
Dell Rapids 6, Lennox 4
Lennox led early in the game, but Dell Rapids rallied in the fifth and sixth innings to earn a 6-4 come-from-behind win. Lennox scored a run in the first inning and two in the second. Dell Rapids got one run in the bottom of the second to make the score 3-1. Lennox had one more run in the top of the fourth, and after four innings, Lennox led 4-1. Dell Rapids tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and then took the lead with two runs in the sixth.
Dell Rapids only had three hits in the game, but took advantage of five Lennox errors. Ruesink had a hit and an RBI. Millage and Schmidt each had a single. Ryan Stubbe had an RBI. Fersdahl pitched three innings and allowed two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Tjaden pitched two innings and allowed a hit with four strikeouts. Carr also pitched two innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on two hits and five walks with four strikeouts.
