The Dell Rapids Phils not only extended their winning streak to 20 with two more wins on Tuesday, July 11th, they also avenged their only two losses of the season. Sioux Falls Post 15 defeated Dell Rapids two times on June 6th to start the season. Dell Rapids returned that favor with a double header win on Tuesday.
Dell Rapids 7, Post 15 Sioux Falls 3
The Phils got out to a 6-0 lead after they were done hitting in the top of the fourth inning. Post 15 got a run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 6-1. Dell Rapids added another run in the sixth, and Sioux Falls got two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Joe Rechtenbaugh finished with two hits and three RBIs. CJ Smith also had two hits and an RBI. Jack Henry and Aiden Boechler each had a single and an RBI. Brayden Pankonen and Treyse Eastman each had a hit. Henry pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, all unearned, on a hit and three walks with 13 strikeouts. Pankonen pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed a hit and walk with one strikeout.
Dell Rapids 14, Post 15 Sioux Falls 3
The Phils offense kept rolling in the second game of the double header, but they needed one inning before getting started. Post 15 got an early 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first, but that lead did not last long. Dell Rapids scored three times in the top of the second. Sioux Falls got a run back in the bottom of the inning making the score 3-2. The Phils then got a run in the third and two in the fourth for a 6-2 lead. Post 15 added a run in the bottom of the fourth cutting the Dell Rapids lead in half, 6-3. The Phils continued to roll and scored one run in the fifth, three in the sixth, and four in the seventh.
Boechler had three hits, one a triple, and an RBI. Mason Stubbe had two hits and four RBIs. Dylan Kindt had two hits and an RBI. Pankonen also had two hits, including a double. Rechtenbaugh and Smith both had a single and an RBI. Henry, T. Eastman, and Drake Eastman all had one hit each. Will Jaton added an RBI. Konrad Richeal pitched five innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts. D. Eastman pitched two innings and struck out two.
