The Dell Rapids high school club baseball team hosted Tea for a double-header on Sunday, May 7th. Dell Rapids won both games the same score of 5-2.
Dell Rapids 5, Tea 2
After two scoreless innings, Dell Rapids put four runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Dylan Mathis had a two-run single. Drake Eastman also drove in two runs with a single. Tea got one run in the top of the fourth inning. Mathis drove home another run in the bottom of the fifth. Tea added another run in the top of the sixth.
Mathis had two hits and three RBIs. Jack Henry had two hits, one a triple. Brayden Pankonen had two singles. D. Eastman finished with a single and two RBIs. Joe Rechtenbaugh and CJ Smith each had a single. Henry pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on one hit and three walks with 11 strikeouts. Pankonen pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed two hits with two strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 5, Tea 2
Dell Rapids broke another 0-0 tie in the third inning with a run. Braden Fersdahl scored on an error for an early 1-0 lead. Tea briefly took the lead in the top of the fourth with two runs. Treyse Eastman put Dell Rapids back in front with a three-run triple. Rechtenbaugh drove home another run in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.
T. Eastman had a triple and three RBIs. Pankonen and Rechtenbaugh each had a single and RBI. Tad Tajden pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and and three walks with eight strikeouts. Pankonen got the last out on a strikeout.
